District 2 Athletes Shine in 2025 All-State Girls Basketball Selections

The 2025 Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls Basketball Teams were officially released Thursday afternoon, and District 2 made a powerful statement, with nine standout athletes and one notable alum receiving statewide honors across multiple PIAA classifications.


Pittston Area’s Daniella Ranielli Headlines 5A First Team

Pittston Area senior Daniella Ranieli capped off a stellar career with First Team All-State honors in Class 5A. The 5-foot-3 guard was the heartbeat of the Patriots, combining elite scoring, court vision, and relentless leadership.

Hazleton Area’s Kaitlyn Bindas Named to 6A Second Team

Sophomore Kaitlyn Bindas of Hazleton Area earned a Class 6A Second Team selection. Her ability to control the tempo, score at all three levels, and lead as an underclassman stood out on the state’s biggest stage.

Crestwood’s Jackie Gallagher Selected to 5A Third Team

Crestwood sophomore guard Jackie Gallagher secured a spot on the Class 5A Third Team, showcasing high-level scoring, tenacity, and basketball IQ for the Lady Comets.

Old Forge’s Jewlya McCullon Voted to 2A Second Team

Jewlya McCullon of Old Forge landed on the Class 2A Second Team. The senior guard brought a mix of grit, scoring, and court vision to the Blue Devils, closing out her career with well-earned recognition.

Wyoming Seminary’s Ella Stambaugh Makes 2A Third Team

Ella Stambaugh, a 6-foot sophomore from Wyoming Seminary, was honored on the Class 2A Third Team. With her length, skill, and upside, Stambaugh is one of the region’s most exciting rising stars.


Special Shoutout: Zya Small Represents District 2 Roots on Non-PIAA First Team

Though no longer competing in the district, Zya Small—a former Scranton High School standout—earned Non-PIAA First Team honors as a sophomore at Friends’ Central. The 6-foot-1 wing continues to impress nationally while making her hometown proud.


District 2’s Basketball Tradition Continues to Thrive

With nine current All-State selections and a proud alum still representing on a statewide level, District 2 continues to be a powerhouse for girls basketball in Pennsylvania. These athletes exemplify the strength, skill, and determination that define the region.
