Valley View’s trip to Warrior Stadium on Friday night ended in frustration as Delaware Valley put together a commanding performance on both sides of the ball, cruising to a 41-0 victory. The loss dropped the Cougars to 4-4 on the season, while the Warriors improved their playoff standing with the dominant showing.
Delaware Valley wasted no time setting the tone. Senior Mike Iuzzolino opened the scoring midway through the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run, then minutes later caught an 85-yard strike from quarterback Colin McGarvey to make it 14-0. McGarvey was in complete command all evening, finishing 10-of-17 passing for 250 yards and four touchdowns.
The Warriors continued their offensive rhythm into the second quarter as Trey Newton’s 3-yard touchdown grab extended the lead to 20-0 heading into halftime. McGarvey connected with senior receiver James Dabney for two more scores in the third quarter from 27 and 38 yards to break the game wide open. Devin Estevez added a 26-yard touchdown run early in the fourth to cap off the rout.
Iuzzolino led Delaware Valley with 158 total yards and two touchdowns (73 rushing, 85 receiving), while Dabney hauled in three catches for 100 yards and two scores. The Warriors’ ground attack compiled 216 yards on 36 carries behind a steady offensive line that controlled the trenches from start to finish.
For Valley View, sophomore quarterback Caleb Brown completed 10 of 16 passes for 79 yards. Junior running back Jeffery Wasilchak was the team’s most consistent contributor, recording 30 yards on eight carries and adding a 7-yard reception. Sophomore Tyler Muchal added 28 yards on eight carries. Through the air, senior Gabe Davis led the receiving corps with 34 yards on four catches, while sophomores Brody Bargella and Brady Cunningham combined for 22 receiving yards. Defensively, junior Tristan Smith made the Cougars’ lone highlight play with an interception in the second half.
Valley View finished with just 52 rushing yards on 27 attempts, marking their lowest output of the season. The Cougars will look to regroup next week when they travel to Spartan Stadium in Kingston to face Wyoming Valley West.
