Dallas, PA – On Thursday, April 3rd, the Dallas High School Mountaineers showcased their offensive firepower, defeating Wyoming Valley West by a convincing score of 11-1. The game, held at Dallas High School, saw the Mountaineers take an early lead and never look back, maintaining their dominance throughout the five-inning contest.

Early Offensive Burst Sets the Tone

The Mountaineers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, putting up five runs in the first inning. Led by strong at-bats from Jude Nocito, Kaden Coyne, and Connor Healey, Dallas quickly took control of the game. Coyne, the designated hitter, was particularly effective, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while first baseman Zach Williams made the most of his limited at-bats, driving in four runs on a single hit.

Pitching Performance Anchors the Victory

Pitcher Dominick Zangardi was nothing short of spectacular on the mound. He pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out 10 batters. Zangardi’s control and power kept the Valley West batters off balance, and his performance was crucial in maintaining the Mountaineers’ momentum throughout the game.

Defense Stands Tall

The Dallas defense was also on point, making crucial plays to prevent any rally from Valley West. The combination of solid pitching and airtight defense allowed Dallas to limit their opponent to a single run, scored in the first inning by D’Vonte Rivers.

Valley West Struggles to Get Going

Valley West’s offense struggled to gain traction against Zangardi’s dominant pitching. Despite a hit from Damien Eastman and two hits from Max Mylet, the Spartans failed to capitalize on opportunities. Starting pitcher Jacob Fine took the loss after giving up six runs in three innings, while relievers Jesse Klem and Dioneiuy Taveras couldn’t hold off the relentless Dallas offense.
