Mountain Top, PA – The Crestwood Comets put on a strong defensive performance Friday night, limiting Wyoming Valley West to single-digit scoring in three of four quarters to secure a 43-34 victory in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 battle. The win came on their home court, where they controlled the pace from start to finish.

Defensive Strength Sets the Tone

From the opening tip, Crestwood’s defense set the tone for the game. They held Valley West to just seven points in the first quarter and an even more stifling three points in the second, allowing them to take a 21-10 lead into halftime. Crestwood’s disciplined approach on defense forced the Spartans into tough shots and limited second-chance opportunities.

The Comets continued their defensive pressure in the third quarter, allowing only nine points while adding 12 of their own. Though Valley West managed to put up 15 points in the fourth, Crestwood maintained control and closed out the game with a steady offensive approach.

Balanced Scoring Leads the Comets

Crestwood’s offensive effort was well-distributed, with eight players contributing to the scoreboard. Ryan Sechleer led the way with a team-high 12 points, which included two key three-pointers. Ayden Agapito added 10 points, making all four of his free throw attempts, while Tommy Biscotti chipped in five points, going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Senior guard Cameron Scotti was held scoreless, but his presence on the court helped orchestrate the offense. Contributions from Jacob Feisel (four points), Adam Nulton (two points), Connor Wagaman (two points), Jack Rodgers (two points), and Kell Edwards (six points, including a three-pointer) showcased Crestwood’s depth and ability to find scoring from multiple sources.

Spartans Struggle to Find Offensive Rhythm

Wyoming Valley West had difficulty generating consistent offense against Crestwood’s smothering defense. The Spartans were led by Navion Terry, who finished with 12 points on six field goals, and Lemar Weatherspoon, who added 10 points while going 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.

The only three-pointer for Valley West came from Jacob Stevens, who ended the game with five points. Cole Wallace and Ethan Benson each contributed two points, while D’Vonte Rivers added three. The Spartans’ struggles were evident at the free-throw line as well, where they made just six of their 10 attempts.
