Late in the first quarter, momentum was shifting toward Crestwood. The Lady Comets delivered a strong team effort on both offense and defense as they secured their first District 2 title with a 54-31 victory over Dallas. Cameron Vieney had a game-high 12 points, while Jackie Gallagher added 10 points.
“It’s a surreal feeling. I really can’t put it into words. It’s the most incredible feeling,” said Crestwood head coach Mary Mushock-Namey.
After a slow start, Crestwood took a 6-2 lead, then scored seven straight points to extend their advantage to 13-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Comets’ defense held Dallas to just three points in the second quarter en route to a commanding 35-7 lead at halftime. Crestwood cruised through the second half to secure the 54-31 victory and claim their first District 2 5A title.
For Dallas, Odessa Kanton had a team-high 10 points, while Izzy Evans added eight.
