Crestwood needed a full team effort on Saturday afternoon if they were to advance to the District Finals. Charlie Hiller had a game high 18 points and Jackie Gallagher added 14 points to get the 56-39 victory over Abington Heights to advance to the District 2 5A Finals. “We came in with a lot of confidence, came out with a bunch of energy and we came out as a team and we performed as best as we could for all four quarters.” Said Hiller. “Credit to the girls. They worked all week and they couldn’t have executed our plan any better.” Said Crestwood head coach Mary Mushock-Namey.
Crestwood raced to a 7-2 lead then a 9-4 lead until Abington Heights scored consecutive baskets before the first quarter came to an end and trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. Jackie Gallagher hit a three pointer to start the second quarter to make it a four point game. A three pointer by Jackie Gallagher and a basket by Hiller made it a seven point Crestwood lead. Crestwood led 24-17 at halftime.
Abington Heights cut Crestwood’s lead down to four but a basket by Kate Gallagher and 2 free throws each by Hiller and Jordan Andrews made it a 33-23 lead and Crestwood led 38-28 after three quarters.
