Comets and Mountaineers Collide: Playoff Implications on the Line

Dallas and Crestwood face off Friday night in what’s shaping up to be a pivotal Wyoming Valley Conference showdown. The Mountaineers, hosting at home with a 2–5 record, hope to lean on home-field advantage and momentum after a recent 35-13 win over Wyoming Valley West.  Crestwood, meanwhile, enters this matchup at 4–3 and is looking to flip the narrative in this rivalry.

Historically, Dallas has held the edge in this matchup. In 2024, Dallas defeated Crestwood 44–14, with wide receiver Gavin Lewis catching 11 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns in that game.  Over recent seasons, Dallas has won eight of the last nine meetings against Crestwood.  Still, Crestwood’s 2025 campaign has shown flashes of balance on both sides of the ball under head coach Ryan Arcangeli, who enters his seventh season at the helm.

On paper, Dallas must generate big plays to overcome differences in record and offensive consistency. Crestwood will look to methodically move the chains, control tempo, and avoid the penalties that have hurt them in past matchups. If the Comets can do that, they may upset the series trend. But if Dallas can force explosive moments and play with poise, the Mountaineers will defend their dominance in the rivalry.
