Two 5–0 powers collide at Crispin Field this Friday, September 26, 7:00 p.m., when Wyoming Area travels to face Berwick in a matchup with major WVC Division 2 and District 2 Class 3A stakes. Both teams enter unbeaten, with this game already circled as the division decider.

Wyoming Area tuned up with a 42–0 shutout of Tunkhannock, powered by takeaways and special teams sparks. Luke Kopetchny had two interceptions (one for a TD), Nick Ciampi added an interception plus explosive plays on offense, and Trustin Johnson punched in two early scores. QB Jack Gravine went 8-for-10 for 109 yards as the Warriors rolled to 5–0 and set up this first-place showdown. Coach Randy Spencer called it their toughest test yet at Berwick.

Berwick, meanwhile, has rediscovered its edge under CJ Curry, riding star RB/DB Ty’Meere Wilkerson and a stingy defense. The Bulldogs have stacked wins over Lake-Lehman, Mid Valley (42–0), Lackawanna Trail (33–12), Hazleton Area (48–6), and Hanover Area (56–19). Wilkerson blasted Hanover for 265 rushing yards to pass 1,000 yards on the season, underscoring a breakout first half that’s made him one of the region’s most impactful players.

Rankings and local buzz match the records. SportzWire Top 10 slots Wyoming Area No. 2 and Berwick No. 1 in week 4, and specifically tags this as the WVC game of the week with the division “there for the taking.” SportzWire also highlights QB Jack Gravine from Wyoming Area and Ty’Meere Wilkerson for Berwick—two difference-makers to watch Friday.

Key edges to watch

  • Turnover margin / short fields (WA): The Warriors just forced five takeaways and leveraged special teams to seize early control; any repeat at Crispin could tilt the night.
  • Wilkerson’s workload (BER): With multiple 200+ yard outings already, Berwick’s bell cow has been the engine of a 40+ points-per-game offense. Limiting explosives will be Wyoming Area’s priority.
  • QB efficiency (WA) vs. front-seven (BER): Gravine’s accuracy has complemented the Warriors’ ground game. How he handles Berwick’s physical front could decide down-and-distance all night.

Game info: Wyoming Area (5–0) at Berwick (5–0), Friday, Sept. 26, 7:00 p.m., Crispin Field.
