Tunkhannock shook off early adversity and rolled to a 42–6 road win over Greater Nanticoke Area on Friday night, opening Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 play with a statement.

The Tigers lost starting halfback Andrew Lupinski to injury on the opening series, but junior back Lucas Ciprich immediately took the reins. He finished with 166 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a back-breaking 66-yard score on the first play of the second half that blew the game open.

Quarterback Zach Latwinski was equally effective, accounting for three touchdowns. He scored on a 10-yard keeper in the first quarter, then threw for two more TDs — a 20-yard strike to Colin Gregory before halftime and another to Caden Simmers in the third quarter. Latwinski totaled 90 passing yards and added 44 on the ground.

Jacob Sult added a 4-yard touchdown run in the third, capping Tunkhannock’s offensive output. The Tigers piled up 374 total yards (274 rushing, 100 passing), controlling the game on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, Tunkhannock limited Nanticoke to just 120 total yards. Gregory also had an interception as the Tigers’ secondary kept the Trojans in check. Nanticoke’s only points came late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Ian Walsh scored on a short sneak.

The victory evens Tunkhannock’s record at 2–2 overall (1–0 WVC Div. 2), while Nanticoke fell to 0–4 (0–1). The Tigers will take their momentum into a tough road matchup with Wyoming Area next week, while the Trojans travel to Crestwood still seeking their first win.
