DUNMORE — Under the Friday night lights at Dunmore Stadium, history was made.
Behind an explosive offensive performance and a statement effort on defense, the Scranton Prep Cavaliers powered past Jersey Shore, 51–19, giving head coach Terry Gallagher his 100th career victory in less than ten full seasons.
Gallagher now stands at an astounding 100–22 record, solidifying his legacy as one of the most successful coaches in Pennsylvania high school football.
Underdogs with a Statement
Coming into the matchup, many saw Prep as an underdog.
Jersey Shore (6–2) entered riding high, with its only setbacks coming to state-ranked Hollidaysburg and a double-overtime heartbreaker against Shamokin. Meanwhile, Scranton Prep (4–4) had dropped tough battles to Valley View, Abington Heights, Canisius (NY), and Loyola, facing one of the toughest schedules in the region.
But on this night, under the glow of Dunmore’s lights, the Cavaliers reminded everyone why they’re never to be counted out.
Krzywiec Sparks the Surge
If there was a tone-setter, it was junior Noah Krzywiec.
On the game’s opening drive, quarterback Will McPartland hit Krzywiec on a short route and the junior playmaker did the rest. He broke a tackle in space, tore down the sideline for 50 yards to the 2-yard line, and set up the Cavaliers’ first score of the night.
From that point on, Krzywiec was electric. Every touch seemed to spark something big, as he slipped through tackles and showcased elite field vision. He finished with 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including scoring runs of 41 and 26 yards that left defenders grasping at air.
McPartland in Command
Senior quarterback Will McPartland put together another complete game.
He accounted for 291 total yards, 172 passing and 119 rushing and scored four total touchdowns, three on the ground and one through the air.
His poise was matched by precision. He connected with A.J. Croom for a 20-yard touchdown, and another long scoring strike to Croom in the second quarter was called back on a penalty but the energy was building and you could feel it.
