BERWICK — The air was thick with rain, wind, and history Friday night at Crispin Field, the kind of atmosphere where legends are made or rewritten.

For Berwick, the undefeated Bulldogs entered with swagger and purpose, carrying a season of dominance, record-setting numbers, and the pride of a town that lives and breathes blue and white football. Led by CJ Curry, grandson of the late legendary coach George Curry, the Dawgs had visions of another championship moment on their home turf.

But Scranton Prep, tested, unflinching, and unrelenting had other plans.

Cavaliers Come Out Swinging

From the opening whistle, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a typical Berwick blowout. Instead, it was Scranton Prep that punched first and never stopped swinging.

Quarterback Will McPartland was surgical in the wet, windy conditions, putting together one of the most efficient championship performances in recent memory. The senior went a perfect 9-for-9 passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 48 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.

Prep’s offense clicked early behind McPartland and the versatile backfield rotation of Will's younger brother, Braedon, Anthony Prince and Noah Krzywiec, who all chipped in key gains to keep the Dawgs’ defense guessing. Braedon and Krzywiec also made a statement in the passing game with Krzywiec hauling in three catches for 81 yards and Braedon, five catches for 98 yards and a score.

First-Half Fireworks and a Dagger Before the Break

By the end of the first quarter, Scranton Prep had built a 21–0 lead, fueled by McPartland’s precision and tempo control. Every possession seemed to end with a touchdown, and Berwick’s defense which had smothered opponents all year struggled to contain the Cavaliers’ rhythm.

Just before halftime, Prep delivered the backbreaker. With seconds remaining, McPartland launched a 47-yard strike to senior Mackey Lynett, connecting perfectly through the wind and rain to push the score to 35–0.

The throw, a rainbow that cut through the storm and drew gasps from the Berwick crowd, who could only watch in disbelief as the Cavaliers celebrated on the visiting sideline. It was the dagger, and it sent the game into a second-half mercy rule as the Cavaliers seized complete control.

Defensive Domination

Prep’s defense matched the offense’s intensity all night.

AJ Croom and Jake Rowell each came away with interceptions, with Croom’s pick marking the first interception thrown all season by Berwick quarterback Brady Cleaver. The Cavaliers held the high-powered Dawgs to just 176 rushing yards, most of them from standout back Ty’Meere Wilkerson, who finished with 144 yards and Berwick’s lone touchdown.

The Dawgs never found their footing through the air, frustrating Cleaver all night as Prep’s secondary blanketed receivers and the pressure disrupted every attempt to mount a comeback. Sean McCormack was impressive as he added two sacks for the Cavs on the night.

Finishing What They Started

For Scranton Prep, the 42–7 victory wasn’t just about winning a title, it was about rediscovering their identity.

After a regular season that featured highs, lows, and five hard-fought losses against elite opponents, the Cavaliers put it all together when it mattered most. Every lesson, every challenge, every setback built toward this moment and the result was nothing short of dominant.

McPartland’s leadership, the defensive playmaking, and a total team effort on both sides of the ball powered Prep to its latest district championship, silencing a previously unbeaten Berwick team and sending a message that the Cavaliers are built for the big stage even when many said it was going to be a down year.
