Burak’s Two Goals Power Valley View Past Scranton

Valley View 4, Scranton 2: At Peckville, Nick Burak scored twice to lead the host Cougars to a Division I victory.

Scranton struck first when Ahmani Wilonja scored off a pass from Walker in the 7th minute. Valley View answered with Noah Symuleski’s header from Hunter Kissel in the 17th minute, then Burak buried a free kick six minutes later to put the Cougars ahead.

After halftime, Jagger Roe extended the lead with a goal in the 45th minute before Burak added his second, this time set up by Connor Doran, in the 54th. Wilonja netted his second of the night for Scranton off a pass from Salumn in the 60th minute, but the Cougars held strong the rest of the way.


Both teams finished with 10 shots and five corners. Scranton goalkeeper Moran tallied four saves, while Valley View’s Aidan Kopa made nine. The Knights dropped to 1-8 overall and in the division, while Valley View evened its record at 6-6 and improved to 4-4 in Division I.
