Mountain View edged Montrose 5-4 on Thursday afternoon in a back-and-forth game that saw the Eagles take the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth.

Montrose jumped ahead early, capitalizing on a Mountain View error to plate two runs in the top of the first. Christopher McGee followed with a groundout RBI to give the Meteors a 3-0 lead. Andrew Brown added to the advantage in the third, driving in a run with a single to make it 4-1.

The Eagles began to rally in the bottom half of the third. A pair of singles and an RBI base hit from Jordan Jagger helped Mountain View knot the score at 4-4.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth when Ziggy Bradford delivered the decisive blow — an RBI single that scored the go-ahead run.

Jagger earned the win for Mountain View, tossing six innings while allowing five hits and four runs (two earned) with six strikeouts and two walks. Hudson Bain pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the victory.

Bradford and Josh Miller each had two hits for the Eagles, while Jagger also contributed with an RBI. Mountain View was aggressive on the basepaths, racking up four stolen bases in the win.

McGee went six innings on the mound for Montrose, giving up seven hits and five runs (three earned) while striking out nine.

Hudson Aukema paced the Montrose offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

With the win, Mountain View avenged an earlier one-run loss to Montrose from April 26.
