Nesbitt Field, Kingston – In a game packed with twists, tension, and torrential momentum swings, Wyoming Seminary edged Mountain View 8-7 in eight innings on a soggy Wednesday night at Nesbitt Field. With the bases loaded and the pressure mounting, Antek Evan drew a walk to force in the winning run—capping a dramatic District 2 Class 2A first-round playoff matchup.
The win sends the Blue Knights into a quarterfinal showdown against cross-town rival Holy Redeemer, who were in attendance scouting the game after dispatching Blue Ridge 8-3 in their own opening-round victory on Tuesday.
Mountain View came out swinging, scoring first in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Josh Miller. But Seminary responded in explosive fashion, erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the second behind timely hits and costly Eagle errors. Colin Donovan delivered the biggest blow—a two-run single as part of a 3-for-4 day with five stolen bases from the leadoff spot.
To their credit, the Eagles refused to fold. After Seminary’s early outburst, Mountain View clawed back, inning by inning, highlighted by Hudson Bain’s two-run single in the fourth that tied the game at 7-7.
From there, the game turned into a gritty pitchers' duel. Teddy Kraus came on in relief and held the Eagles scoreless over 2.2 innings, striking out three while allowing just one hit. Hudson Bain, who also contributed two hits and two RBIs at the plate, took the loss but kept Mountain View in it late.
Wyoming Seminary’s plate discipline proved crucial. The Blue Knights worked eight walks on the day—including three each from Evan and Leo Nockley—and stole nine bases, constantly applying pressure.
