Kaitlyn Bindas scored a game-high 24 points to lead three Hazleton Area players in double figures in a win over Valley West. The Cougars set the tone early, outscoring Valley West 28-6 in the first quarter and never looking back.
With the win, Hazleton Area clinches the Division 1 regular season championship
Hazleton Area Highlights:
Kaitlyn Bindas: 24 points, 9 field goals, 4 three-pointers, 2-of-2 from the free-throw line (100% FT).
Sophia Shults: 18 points, 7 field goals, 1 three-pointer, 3-of-4 from the free-throw line (75% FT).
Alexis Reimold: 14 points, 6 field goals, 2 three-pointers.
Bindas showcased her scoring prowess, shooting efficiently from both inside and beyond the arc. Shults complemented her performance with aggressive drives and strong finishes, while Reimold’s sharp shooting added to the offensive onslaught.
Valley West Highlights:
Aniyah Davis: 9 points, 3 field goals, 2-of-2 from the free-throw line (100% FT), 2 three-pointers.
Anya Richet: 9 points, 4 field goals, 1 three-pointer.
Ava Yancey: 3 points, 1 field goal, 1-of-2 from the free-throw line (50% FT).
Aniyah Davis and Anya Richet each scored nine points for Valley West. Despite the loss, Davis and Richet provided bright spots for Valley West. Davis’s accuracy from the perimeter and Richet’s inside presence were key factors in Valley West's offense.
