Wyoming Seminary exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to pull away from Hanover Area and secure a 9-2 win on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Knights set the tone early, with Leo Nockley driving in a run on a single in the bottom of the first. Hanover responded in the third when Conor Engleman tripled to center to even the score at 1-1.

Nockley answered back quickly, launching a home run to right field in the bottom half of the third to give Wyoming Seminary a 3-1 edge — a lead they would not surrender.

The pivotal fifth inning saw Seminary’s offense come alive. Antek Evan delivered a two-run double, followed by a two-run double from Caleb Aponick. Shaun Behrens added an RBI groundout, and Ryan Finlay capped the rally with an RBI double of his own.

Teddy Kraus earned the win on the mound, turning in a strong six-inning performance where he allowed just three hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out six and walking one. Colin Donovan closed the door, tossing a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts despite issuing three walks.

Nockley led the offensive charge, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Evan also chipped in two hits and two RBIs, helping to fuel Seminary’s big day at the plate.

Hanover Area’s offense was paced by Engleman and Spencer Martinez, who each drove in a run, while Logan Richardson recorded a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Wyoming Seminary will look to build on the momentum as they host Lake-Lehman on Wednesday.
