Berwick and Wyoming Area Remain Neck-and-Neck as Trail Moves Up in Small School Rankings

The District 2 Small School Top 10 saw subtle but important changes this week, with the top two remaining razor close and movement in the middle of the pack.

Berwick stays at No. 1, finishing with 170 points after leading with 174 last week. Wyoming Area continues to apply pressure, sitting just two points back at 168 after totaling 171 a week ago. Both teams remain firmly at the top with little separation between them.

The biggest change comes at No. 3, where Lackawanna Trail leaps past Lakeland. The Lions climbed from 117 to 131 points, while Lakeland still improved but dropped to fourth despite increasing from 119 to 121.

Scranton Prep rises from seventh to fifth with a 70-to-81 point jump, overtaking both Dunmore and Riverside. Dunmore still climbed from 73 to 77 but slips to sixth, while Riverside dropped from fifth to seventh despite maintaining a solid 72 points.

Mid Valley made the strongest climb outside of the top five, jumping from 41 to 58 points to stay at No. 8. Carbondale gained ground as well, moving from 35 to 43 at No. 9. Hanover rounded out the list with 36 points, an improvement from last week’s 28, to solidify its hold on the tenth spot.

The top remains a two-team battle between Berwick and Wyoming Area, but the shuffle in the middle shows how competitive the Small School race is becoming with Lackawanna Trail and Scranton Prep gaining momentum.
