DALLAS, Pa. — With bats blazing and arms locked in, the Back Mountain National 11U All-Stars wasted no time making a statement. Exploding for seven runs in the opening inning, they rolled to a 13-0 shutout victory over the West Side All-Stars to capture the District 31 Championship on Sunday at Back Mountain Little League.
This wasn’t just a win — it was a complete performance on both sides of the ball, and it officially punched Back Mountain’s ticket to the Sectional Tournament, where the competition ratchets up, but this squad looks ready for the moment.
Leading the early offensive barrage was Mac Hanson, who jump-started the first inning with a booming triple to drive in a run. Oliver Bross followed with a two-run triple of his own, Matthew Wycallis roped a two-run double, Jayden Dennis added an RBI single, and Max Kovach grounded out to plate another. By the time the dust settled, Back Mountain had hung a crooked seven on the board before West Side recorded their third out.
But the momentum didn’t stop there. In the second inning, Ethan Wielgosz ripped a triple to drive in a run, and Andrew Salko cleared the bases with a clutch three-run double. The third inning saw Brian Vinsko bring home another run on a groundout, and Wielgosz walked to score the final tally.
On the mound, Hanson was nearly untouchable. The starter went three no-hit innings, striking out five and walking just one to earn the win. Bross took the ball in relief and stayed sharp, tossing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts and no hits allowed.
Back Mountain finished with 10 total hits, showing depth and discipline throughout the lineup. Salko led the charge, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Wielgosz also notched a multi-hit game with two RBIs, while Jordan Rollins collected two hits and scored twice.
Defensively, it was just as clean. The team committed zero errors, with Isaac Tribendis anchoring the infield and recording a team-high nine defensive chances. It was a full-team effort that set the tone for what’s shaping up to be a strong postseason run.
With the District 31 crown in hand, the Back Mountain National 11U All-Stars now shift their focus to the Sectional Round, where they’ll look to keep the bats hot and the momentum rolling.
One game down. Bigger goals ahead.
