DUNMORE — The Blue Devils are heating up.
Behind a strong connection between Robby Solfanelli, Ayden Aversa, and Chris Rasmus, the Old Forge Blue Devils powered to their second straight win Saturday afternoon, defeating Holy Cross 20–6 in Lackawanna League action.
Old Forge wasted no time setting the tone. On their first scoring drive, quarterback Robby Solfanelli hit Ayden Aversa on a deep strike for a 67-yard touchdown, sending a message that the Devils’ air attack was alive and well.
Late in the second quarter, Chris Rasmus punched in a short touchdown run to extend the lead to 13–0 heading into halftime.
Holy Cross, led by standout athlete Kevin Vincent (22 carries, 118 yards), kept battling, but the Old Forge defense answered every challenge.
In the fourth quarter, Solfanelli and Rasmus connected again, this time from 13 yards out to seal the win and put the Devils up 20–0. Holy Cross finally broke through late, as Dean Mushow hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Chase Rutkoski, but it was too little, too late.
Solfanelli finished his night 17-of-24 for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while Aversa was dominant through the air with 10 receptions for 145 yards and a score. Rasmus added 69 total yards and two touchdowns, proving to be the difference-maker in the red zone.
Defensively, the Devils came up with two interceptions (Aversa and Castaldi) to stifle any Crusader comeback hopes.
Looking Ahead
With the win, Old Forge improves to 2–6, stacking back-to-back victories at the perfect time as they prepare for their rivalry showdown at Riverside next week.
Holy Cross (3–5) will look to bounce back as they turn their attention to a tough matchup with Lackawanna Trail.
