CLARKS SUMMIT — Another Thursday night under the lights, another chapter of Comet football history rewritten.

Abington Heights delivered a 49–13 statement win over the Scranton Knights on Homecoming Night, a game that not only showcased the Comets’ balanced attack but also cemented Gavin Anders as one of the most decorated receivers in program history.

Anders Makes History Again

Just one week after breaking the school’s career receptions record, Anders etched his name into Comet football lore once more — surpassing Corey Perkins’ career receiving yardage record of 1,699 yards to become Abington Heights’ all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards.

The senior standout finished the night with 3 receptions for 60 yards, officially rewriting the record books and solidifying his spot among the program’s all-time greats.

Comets Roll Early and Often

The Comets wasted no time igniting the Homecoming crowd.

Noah Kayal opened the scoring with a 16-yard touchdown strike to Evan Keiper, before Jayden Anglin took over on the ground. Anglin found the end zone three times in the first half, rumbling in from 6, 1, and 20 yards out.

Kayal capped off the second quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run, and Anthony Severs added another late in the half to make it 42–0 at the break.

Kayal finished an efficient night going 6-for-10 for 101 yards and one passing touchdown, while the Comets racked up 194 yards on the ground behind a physical offensive front that dominated the line of scrimmage.

Bohn, Defense, and Hartshorn Stay Sharp

Scranton’s Kamani Sterling broke through with an 8-yard score in the third quarter, but the Comets answered with Chris Bohn’s touchdown run early in the fourth.

Kicker Jack Hartshorn stayed perfect on the night, going 7-for-7 on extra points, while Anglin grabbed an interception to lead a defensive unit that limited Scranton to just 61 passing yards.

Scranton’s Ian McAndrew provided a late highlight with a 60-yard touchdown run, but Abington Heights had long secured the win and the moment.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, Abington Heights improves to 7–2 and will travel to Hazleton next week to close out the regular season on a high note.

Scranton (2–7) will return home to face Delaware Valley in its season finale.

It was a night of celebration, dominance, and history for the Comets, one that won’t soon be forgotten in Clarks Summit.
