All Gas & Full of Class: Lady Trojans Dominate, Set Up Title Bout with Comets

North Pocono softball just made a loud statement—and punched their ticket to the District 2 Class 5A championship in the process.
The Lady Trojans powered past Pittston Area 13-4 in Saturday’s semifinal showdown, riding a wave of offense, unity, and unmatched energy. Next stop? A clash with top-seeded Abington Heights for district gold.
Alyssa Lynch led the way in more ways than one. The senior standout went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two singles—but it was her sportsmanship that earned her the Nina’s Wing Bites Player of the Game.
When a hard-hit line drive off Lynch’s bat struck Pittston pitcher Samantha Herbert, the game paused—but Lynch didn’t hesitate. She crossed the field to check on Herbert, offering comfort and compassion in a moment that reminded everyone watching what this game is really about. That gesture? Bigger than any box score.
Still, Lynch’s numbers were impossible to ignore, as were the bats around her. Riley Grambo and Avarie Roscioli also had three hits apiece, while Amelia Bell got the scoring started with a two-run single in the second and delivered a gutsy complete game in the circle—striking out six over seven innings of work.
North Pocono racked up 15 hits and seven walks, using pressure at the plate and speed on the basepaths to overwhelm the Lady Patriots. Cameron Forgione swiped two bases, while Ellie Ambrosecchia reached base three times and helped keep the lineup rolling.
Pittston Area got a spark from Gabby Gorzkowski’s two-run homer in the fourth, but the Lady Trojans never let them get close.
With the win, North Pocono officially advances to the District 2 5A title game and sets up a much-anticipated battle against No. 1 seed Abington Heights.
