There’s something special brewing in Abington Heights—and it’s not just the weather heating up.

Fresh off a girls lacrosse district title and with baseball making noise of their own, the Lady Comets softball squad added to the spring surge, punching their ticket to the District 2 Class 5A championship game with a commanding 13-1 semifinal win over Delaware Valley on Friday.

And make no mistake—this group is rolling.

Senior southpaw Lauren Stalica was in full command, striking out 13 and surrendering just two hits across five dominant innings. But she didn’t just do it in the circle—Stalica lit up the scoreboard early with a thunderous three-run homer to center in the bottom of the first to kickstart the rout.

Then came the second inning eruption.

Eight runs. Four different RBI swings. One loud statement.

Isabelle Wilmot ripped a two-run single. Isabella DeRiggi doubled in a pair. And Avary Brister delivered the dagger—a bases-clearing triple that had the Comets' dugout bouncing.

Brister, who’s emerged as a secret weapon in the lower half of the order, drove in four runs and finished 2-for-3. Wilmot and Eva Kane also logged multi-hit games as the Lady Comets flexed their depth and discipline—drawing nine walks and committing zero errors behind Stalica.

Delaware Valley’s offense was held quiet, with Ashlynn McCardle driving in their lone run and Jordan Dickerson finishing 2-for-3.

Now, the Comets are championship bound—and waiting to see who they’ll face between #2 North Pocono and #3 Pittston Area, who square off Saturday at Mid Valley.

With momentum swelling across the school and the Abington community behind them, the Lady Comets are poised to bring another title back home.
