SCRANTON — A 10-run third inning proved to be the difference as Abington rolled to a 14-0 victory over Moosic in District 17 Little League 11U pool play Wednesday evening at South Scranton Little League.
Abington took an early lead in the first inning behind a two-run single from Carson W. and a successful steal of home. Aiden D.’s RBI groundout added another run in the second before the offense erupted in the third.
The third-inning surge featured RBI hits from Carson W., Vincie P., Evan R., Murphy L., and Bradley M. Aiden D. also drove in two runs with a groundout during the frame.
Carson W. earned the win on the mound, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out four. Vincie P. closed it out with 1.2 hitless innings of relief.
Abington showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks and swiping eight bases. Moosic’s lone hit came from Scott F., who finished 1-for-1.
Both teams turned a double play defensively in the contest.
