Abington broke open a tight contest with a six-run sixth inning to pull away from Pittston for a 13-3 win on Monday night at Abington Little League. The game featured timely hitting, sharp pitching, and the unmistakable energy of the Abington announcer, who brought excitement to every batter that stepped to the plate.

After two scoreless innings, Abington cracked the scoreboard in the third on a Pittston error. That opened the floodgates. They followed with four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. The dagger came in the top of the sixth, as Abington pushed across six runs on six hits, fueled by RBI singles from Aiden Duffy and Peter Adair and several Pittston miscues.

Evan Ross Sets the Tone

Evan Ross turned in a dominant start for Abington, tossing four shutout innings. He allowed just one hit, struck out two, and issued no walks. Ross faced 14 batters and threw 35 pitches (25 for strikes). Vincie Pricci and Bradley McDonald handled the final two innings to secure the win.

Balanced Abington Lineup Delivers

Abington piled up 13 hits and showed great patience at the plate with six walks. Murphy Lyle led the way with 3 RBIs and a triple, while Evan Ross, Aiden Duffy, and Billy Dempsey each recorded two hits and scored twice. Bradey Bleich reached base three times on walks, and Grayden Kane and Caleb Engerman each contributed in a multi-run rally.

Pittston Stays Competitive Until Late

Despite the loss, Pittston showed fight in the final inning. The offense produced six hits, and three runs crossed in the sixth thanks to clutch at-bats by Justin O, Jeffrey J, and Barrett W. Jaxon B and Landry H each added hits, and Johan M and Joey P chipped in as well.

Jake H got the start on the mound and allowed just one unearned run over 2.1 innings. Pittston used five pitchers total, but Abington’s late-inning push proved too much.
