Abington Heights and Valley View squared off in an LIAA Division 1 contest, and after falling behind in the first half, the Comets stormed back to earn a 3-1 win.
Valley View opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Braden Loff was fouled just outside the box, setting up a penalty kick that Nicholas Burak converted to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage.
The second half belonged to Abington Heights. Just 31 seconds after the restart, Joey Pivirotto buried the equalizer at 45:17. Less than a minute later, Carter DeSarno struck at 45:43 to put the Comets on top. Pivirotto added his second goal in the 58th minute to extend the lead, and Abington Heights closed out the 3-1 victory.
The Comets dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Valley View 21-4 while holding a 5-3 edge in corners. Goalkeeper Billy Johnson needed just one save, while Valley View’s Aidan Kopa stood tall with seven saves in net.
