Abington Heights captured the team title and East Stroudsburg North secured a runner-up finish to headline the Northeast/Pocono Unified Champion Schools (UCS) Track and Field Regional Championships, held Wednesday at Lakeland High School. The pair will advance to the UCS State Championships later this month—joined by Wallenpaupack Area High School, who was selected as the wildcard entry in a statewide random draw among bronze-medal teams.

The Comets led the seven-team field with 74 points, followed by East Stroudsburg North with 69 and Wallenpaupack with 67 in a competitive finish. Wyoming Valley West (54), Hazleton Area (53), East Stroudsburg South (51), and Mid Valley (39) rounded out the standings.
The event brought together Unified athletes from across the region for a day of celebration, competition, and inclusion. Athletes competed in a variety of track, field, and relay events, showing that true sportsmanship and teamwork transcend medals and records.

Two standout athletes—Danny Dolcetti of Abington Heights and Isaiah Sorge of East Stroudsburg North—topped the individual honors, each winning three events: one track, one field, and one relay. Their all-around efforts helped lift their schools to the top of the leaderboard.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania Unified Champion Schools’ track & field program had one final slot remaining for the UCS State Championships. With multiple strong bronze-finishing teams across the state, the final bid came down to chance—a randomized drawing among third-place finishers. In a thrilling announcement, Wallenpaupack Area High School was selected as the wildcard winner.
Led by head coach Katie Schkolenko and a dedicated staff of assistant coaches, Wallenpaupack will join Abington Heights and East Stroudsburg North at the UCS State Championships on May 23–24 at Shippensburg University. The meet will run alongside the PIAA Track and Field Championships, giving Unified athletes a statewide spotlight and a stage worthy of their efforts and energy.
