SCOTT TOWNSHIP — When their streak was snapped, Abington didn’t flinch—they fired back.
In a decisive Game 2 at Lakeland Little League, Abington delivered a dominant 10-3 win over Kingston/Forty Fort to secure the 2025 Section 5 Majors title, just hours after suffering their first All-Star loss in three seasons of district and sectional play.
KFF rode the momentum early in Game 1, walking off Abington 3-2 to force a winner-take-all showdown. But in the nightcap, Abington’s bats exploded, their pitching settled in, and their defense held firm.
The scoring started in the second inning with back-to-back RBI knocks from Dylan Lyle and Patrick Keeler. The real damage came in the third, when Max Vazquez crushed a two-run homer to right, followed by RBI hits from Lucas Deschaine, Grady Tomachick, and a fielder’s choice by Ben Hillebrand that brought another run across.
Vazquez finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, and Penn Eckenrode was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to lead a relentless 18-hit attack. Multiple hits also came from Tomachick, Hillebrand, James Kane, and Jaxon Hizny.
On the mound, Hizny got the start and tossed four strong innings, allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out four. Abington also turned a slick double play and played flawless defense—Kane led the way with six clean plays at shortstop.
KFF fought to the end, getting RBI contributions from TJ Needle and Dayne Wadas, with Jason Dailey drawing two walks. Kushnir anchored a clean defensive effort, handling six chances without an error.
Needle started on the hill and went three innings, but Abington's offense proved too tough in the rematch.
What It Means:
Abington captures the Section 5 crown and punches its ticket to the PA State Tournament, keeping their All-Star dominance alive after a thrilling day of baseball in Scott Township.
