Senior forward hits 30-goal milestone in win over Berwick, surpassing a mark that stood since 2009.
It’s been a record-setting fall for Tunkhannock’s Caden Newswanger, who etched his name into program history by scoring his 30th goal of the season in a recent win over Berwick — breaking the school’s single-season scoring record previously held by Ryan Karnopp, who netted 29 back in 2009. The goal came during one of the Tigers’ most complete offensive performances of the year, capping a season in which Newswanger has been the driving force behind nearly every scoring chance.
This year’s breakout has been anything but a surprise to those who’ve followed his rise. Newswanger opened the season with multi-goal outings, including four goals in a 6–0 win over MMI Prep and another two-goal performance in a 4–1 victory over MMI late in the year. His consistency and finishing ability have made him one of District 2’s most dangerous forwards — and now, the most prolific scorer in Tunkhannock history.
