The Delaware Valley Warriors were in championship form Monday night, overpowering the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves, 58-45, to capture the Delaware Valley Holiday Tournament title.
From the opening tip, the Warriors set the tone with their trademark physical defense and sharp offensive execution, reminiscent of the iconic movie "The Warriors" - DV came out to play!
Leading the charge was senior standout Isaiah Berrios, who poured in 20 points and was named Tournament MVP. Freshman sensation Trey Newton, a rising star and All-Tournament Team selection, added 12 points to the Warriors’ winning effort.
East Stroudsburg North put up a valiant fight, with Bernard Bowen leading the Timberwolves with 14 points. Zerik Walker contributed 8 points, but the team struggled to break through Delaware Valley’s stifling defense.
Delaware Valley controlled the game from start to finish, using a balanced attack and timely stops to maintain their lead. The Warriors’ depth and composure ultimately proved too much for the Timberwolves.
The Warriors’ victory capped off an impressive tournament run, leaving no doubt they are a team to watch as the season progresses.
