Undoubtedly, Scranton Prep stands out as a highly skilled basketball team backed by considerable experience. They are well-coached and entered the current season after winning last year's 4A district championship, which included an impressive playoff run where they defeated the formidable Neumann-Goretti and advanced to the state semi-finals. This season, Scranton Prep returns two of the best guards in the region, Brycen Martin and Packy Doherty. In contrast, Dallas faced a significant challenge as they graduated many seniors last year, retaining only one starter, Jude Nocito. Consequently, the varsity basketball experience available for the Mountaineers is quite limited. All this being said, Scranton Prep came into Wednesday nights matchup heavily favored.
On Wednesday night, Dallas managed to edge out Scranton Prep with a well-rounded scoring effort and a powerful fourth-quarter performance. Despite falling behind by 12 points and trailing for most of the game, the young Dallas team rallied in the final quarter. Freshman Tyce Mason came off the bench to ignite the team's momentum by creating crucial turnovers that converted into points for Dallas. Jude Nocito topped the scoring for Dallas with 13 points, while Joey Nocito and Jack Dale each added 10 points. Additionally, Pat Flanagan and Kael Berry contributed 8 points each for the Mountaineers.
