Tyler Bianchi’s Overtime Goal Lifts Scranton Prep Past North Pocono, 2-1

Tyler Bianchi delivered a game-winning overtime goal to lead Scranton Prep to a dramatic 2-1 victory over North Pocono in a Lackawanna League Division I boys soccer match on Monday.

After a scoreless first half, Scranton Prep’s Tony Nguyen broke the deadlock with a goal at the 67:20 mark. North Pocono quickly responded when Rocco Rava found the back of the net at 72:18, forcing the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Bianchi capitalized on a setup from Palonis, scoring at 99:53 to secure the win for the Cavaliers.

Scranton Prep outshot North Pocono 6-4 and dominated corners 11-2. Cavalier goalkeeper Keating made three saves, while North Pocono’s Bassi recorded four.

With the victory, Scranton Prep improved to 11-2 in the division and 15-2 overall, while North Pocono dropped to 9-3 in the division and 12-3 overall. Scranton Prep (.746) continues to lead the District 2 Class 2A power rating standings, ahead of Dunmore (.744). The Cavaliers wrap up their regular season by hosting Honesdale on Wednesday.
