The Scranton Knights have seven seniors on their roster, and that core has helped establish one of the strongest programs in District 2. This core has won three District 2 6A basketball titles and now made four straight Lynett Tournament championship games. The Knights return to the title game as the reigning champions, having beaten Holy Cross 48-46 in last year's final. They will face the Crusaders again December 29 after defeating Dunmore 60-52 in the semifinals. The game will take place following the girls championship game between Scranton and Scranton Prep, which is slated for 6:00 pm.

The game ended up being relatively competitive and was even a two point game at the half, with Scranton leading 25-23. The Bucks were able to keep in close in part because of an outstanding performance from junior guard Brayden Canavan, who had 23 points. Jimmy Clark chipped in 12 points, and even tied the game at 25 early in the third quarter. After that, Scranton went on a run, scoring 18 of the next 28 points and taking an eight point lead into the fourth. Both teams scored 17 in the fourth quarter, leading to a 60-52 win for the Knights.

The star for the Knights was senior center Pedro Lugo, who finished with 24 points. He had 14 in the fourth quarter alone, and Dunmore had no answer for him as he threw down several impressive dunks. Jayden Burrell added 11 points, the second most of anyone on the team. Tony Battaglia and Gabe White both chipped in nine points each. The Knights and Crusaders should be an epic matchup, and if it’s anything like the last time they met, it could be the game of the year.
