Rally in the Valley for a Cause, Raising nearly $8,000 for Cancer Awareness

Mid Valley Stadium, October 5, 2024 — In a remarkable display of community spirit and determination, the Mid Valley and Valley View girls’ soccer teams came together for a special “Rally in the Valley” event at Mid Valley Stadium. Organized by the Mid Valley girls’ soccer team, the event, part of the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative, ran from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and featured soccer matches, basket raffles, food, and t-shirt sales to support cancer awareness and research. By the end of the day, the event raised nearly $8,000 in proceeds for cancer-related causes.

In a key match during the event, the Valley View girls’ soccer team secured a 4-2 victory over Mid Valley. Valley View’s goals were scored by Reese Collura, Liv Collura, Mya Cesarini, and Callie Gillen. Mid Valley’s scorers, Trista Schroeder and Raegan Galeas, each put one on the board for their team.

The event was more than just a game, as players and spectators alike came together to raise funds and awareness for a cause that affects countless lives. The players from both teams wore pink socks, shorts, and bows in honor of Cancer Awareness, a visual testament to their support for cancer survivors and fighters. Young athletes from across the valley participated in soccer activities, contributing to the event’s festive atmosphere and important mission.

“The Rally in the Valley was more than just a soccer match,” said one parent. “It was an opportunity for the entire community to unite for a cause that touches so many families.”

The day was filled with activities beyond the match, all contributing to the fundraising efforts. The energy at Mid Valley Stadium was electric, with the community coming together for a common purpose.

It was a day of unity, soccer, and hope. The nearly $8,000 raised from the event will go to improving the lives of cancer patients and their families, making this a truly meaningful and successful day for everyone involved.
