Northwestern Lehigh dominates Scranton Prep for the second consecutive year in the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals, securing a 34-0 victory at Berwick’s Crispin Field.
The Tigers broke this game open in the 3rd quarter, scoring 14 points in a few quick key plays that included Eli Zimmerman’s 80-yard punt return for a touchdown and Brady Zimmerman’s interception, setting up a 1-yard TD pass from Shane Leh to Shane Hulmes.
Eli Zimmerman led the Tigers offense with 149 rushing yards, while Leh added 87 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 37 rushing yards. Northwestern’s defense was stingy all night against Scranton Prep, especially when QB Louis Paris went down in the 2nd quarter with a leg injury, allowing just 76 total yards of offense.
The win advances undefeated Northwestern (14-0) to the state semifinals, where they will face Danville (13-0). Scranton Prep finishes its season 12-2 and District 2 champions.
