Dallas Claims Victory in Girls AA Team Competition at PIAA District 2 XC Championships

At the 2024 PIAA District 2 Cross Country Championships held on October 23, 2024, at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds, the Dallas girls’ cross-country team emerged as the champions in the Girls AA division. In a tightly contested race, Dallas secured the team title with a score of 71 points, edging out Valley View, who finished second with 74 points.

Dallas’s win was propelled by a stellar performance from senior Madison Hedglin, who took the individual title with a time of 18:27.2. Hedglin’s dominant run set the tone for her team, with Sarah Williams placing 3rd (19:43.9) and Erika Doran finishing 6th (20:35.6), providing the necessary support to capture the championship.

Valley View, just three points behind, was led by junior Riley Mackrell, who finished 4th overall with a time of 20:15.8. Valley View showcased its depth, with four runners in the top 22, including Sadie Loftus (7th), Emily Loomis (20th), and Hailey Boshman (21st). However, they were unable to overcome Dallas’s strong team presence at the front of the pack.

Wallenpaupack rounded out the top three teams with a score of 86 points. Sophomore Kelcie Fillebrown led the team, finishing 5th with a time of 20:22.3. She was followed by Olivia Lojewski (9th) and June Brown (11th), contributing to Wallenpaupack’s overall solid performance.

3. Wallenpaupack - 86 points

4. Lake Lehman - 120 points

5. Honesdale - 126 points

2. Annika Vonahnen (Mid Valley) - 19:29.0

3. Sarah Williams (Dallas) - 19:43.9

4. Riley Mackrell (Valley View) - 20:15.8

5. Kelcie Fillebrown (Wallenpaupack) - 20:22.3
