COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NEPA’s Finest Shine on the College Stage
Two of Northeast Pennsylvania’s top football talents made their mark on the college football stage this weekend, showcasing their skills and contributing to their teams’ victories.
Lakeland High School graduate Lacota Dippre, now a key player for the Charlotte 49ers, was a force on defense in their commanding 55-24 win over Tulsa. Dippre recorded two tackles, including a sack, as part of an aggressive Charlotte defense that forced three turnovers and held Tulsa to just 100 rushing yards. His sack came during a critical third-down play, helping to halt a Tulsa drive deep in Charlotte territory.
Meanwhile, Scranton Prep graduate London Montgomery displayed his offensive prowess for East Carolina in their 28-10 win over Rice. Montgomery had an explosive performance, rushing for 56 yards on three carries, including a 27-yard touchdown run. Montgomery’s impact was immediate as his touchdown helped to extend East Carolina’s lead in the second quarter. He also played a key role in clock management late in the game, contributing to East Carolina’s 215 total rushing yards on the day.
Both athletes, representing Lakeland and Scranton Prep, continue to carry the pride of NEPA as they establish themselves at the collegiate level. With each game, Dippre and Montgomery are proving they have what it takes to excel on larger stages, further solidifying their status as two of the region’s finest football prospects.
