The Lackawanna League Division One matchup marked the first meeting between these two teams since the PIAA District 2 4A championship game last season, where the Classics took home the gold by a final score of 55-31. This time around, the Classics picked up the win again by a final score of 59-34. The Classics improve to 11-0 and the Lady Cougars fall to 11-1.

The Hazleton Area Cougars delivered a commanding 59-18 victory over the Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack, fueled by Kaitlyn Bindas’ 16 points and a relentless defensive effort. Holding the Wolfpack to single-digit scoring in every quarter, the Cougars showcased their dominance on both ends of the court, securing another statement win in their impressive season.
In 2015, Bob Beviglia was named head basketball coach of the Scranton Prep Classics. During his tenure, the team has achieved nine state playoff berths, seven district titles and 11 state playoff wins, including an appearance in last year\'s PIAA 4A State Championship. Sunday however, marked yet another milestone for arguably the most accomplished girls basketball coach in District 2, as he picked up his 200 win. The win also secured another Lynett Tournament championship, as the Classics knocked off the Scranton Lady Knights 56-41 in the final. The win marks the third Lynett victory for Scranton Prep since Beviglia took over in 2019, and their second in the last three seasons.
