Valley View Dominates North Pocono in 4-0 Victory
Valley View’s girls’ soccer team continued their strong season with a commanding 4-0 win over North Pocono in a Lackawanna League Division I matchup. Callie Gillen led the charge with two goals, propelling the Cougars to a crucial victory.
The scoring began in the first half when Callie Gillen found the back of the net twice in quick succession. Her first goal came off an assist from her sister, Shannon Gillen, at 24:27. Less than a minute later, she doubled the lead, scoring again with an assist from Smith at 25:07.
Valley View’s offense continued to apply pressure, and Mya Cesarini capitalized on an assist from Eva Canevari at 31:05, giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Canevari added a goal of her own, finding the net at 51:40 off an assist from Reese Collura, sealing the 4-0 victory.
Valley View outshot North Pocono 18-4 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Rucks made four saves to preserve the shutout, while DeRenzis made nine saves for North Pocono.
The win improves Valley View’s record to 15-1, while North Pocono falls to 8-8-1
