The Lake Lehman Field Hockey team is currently experiencing an impressive winning streak, having secured victories in 11 of their last 12 matches, with one game ending in a tie. As they strive for continued success in pursuit of a Class A district championship, they are keeping a vigilant watch on Wyoming Area, their most formidable rival. The Wyoming Area girls are performing well on both offensive and defensive fronts, maintaining a solid rhythm, yet Lehman is closely behind them. Presently, Wyoming Area holds the top spot in Pennsylvania for Class A, while Lehman is ranked second.
The thriving Black Knights recently celebrated a significant victory on Friday night against last year’s State Champion, Oley Valley. From the outset of the game, Lehman asserted control over possession and took an early lead of 1-0, thanks to Gracie James’s goal in the second quarter. However, Oley Valley, recognized for its strong coaching, fought back and managed to equalize in the fourth quarter. With just four minutes left in the match, Isabella Decesaris, a commit to Old Dominion, scored the decisive goal for the Black Knights, clinching the win. Lake Lehman aims to capitalize on this momentum as they seek to conclude the season on a high note and gear up for the playoffs. Notably, although both Lehman and Wyoming Area are ranked first and second in the state respectively, the district sends only one team to the state playoffs, adding significant weight to the district championship.
